Olena M. Chernyk

Olena Mykhailivna Chernik was born on May 29, 1982, in Mariupol, Donetsk region. Before the Revolution of Dignity, Olena Chernik worked as a dispatcher at a factory. In 2014, she joined the self-defense forces. She initially patrolled with a group from Ivano-Frankivsk. In the summer of 2016, she joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to officially fight at the front. As part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Aidar," she was involved in aerial reconnaissance. In September 2016, during the battles for Marinka, she sustained a concussion. After demobilization, she remained in the military reserve. At home, in Mariupol, she embroidered icons with beads. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, she returned to military service. She was killed in March 2022.
