Olha O. Taran (Zyma)

34-year-old Olga Taran heroically on April 12, 2022, in the city of Mariupol. The woman was caught in mortar fire while saving the life of a wounded comrade. She was a senior sergeant, a medic of the 36th Separate Brigade of the Marine Infantry named after Counter-Admiral Mikhail Bilinsky. Olga was born in the village of Kotelva in the Poltava region, where she finished gymnasium. She received the specialty of a medic-obstetrician at the Lubny Medical School. Initially, she worked at the Nikolaev boarding school No. 5 for children-orphans and children deprived of parental care, then at the Nikolaev Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children. But in 2015, she decided to help the military on the front lines. For almost 7 years of service, she was a medic of a tank battalion, a medic of a field communication node, a combat medic of a medical company. For fearlessness and heroism, Olga Taran was awarded the medal "For Saved Life" in April 2021, earlier - the award of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "For Exemplary Service", the medal "Veteran of the War" and the award of the President of Ukraine "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation".
