- Ostap Bohdanovych Brynskyi was born on July 30, 1987, in Ivano-Frankivsk. He studied at Ukrainian Gymnasium No. 1. In 2008, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He was an observer during the 2010 elections. He participated in the Revolution of Dignity. When the war began in 2014, he was eager to go to the front, visiting the military recruitment office several times, but was not accepted at that time. He held the position of analyst at the Charitable Foundation "Patients of Ukraine." He was a specialist in public procurement in the healthcare sector. Previously, he worked as an analyst at the Anti-Corruption Platform Center and as a regional coordinator for medical procurement at the DOZORRO network. He worked at the "Agency for Restoration and Development," later becoming its director. In Ivano-Frankivsk, where the Brynskyi family moved from Kyiv in the early days of March, Ostap immediately signed up for territorial defense and later went to the front as a volunteer. Initially, Ostap served in the State Border Guard Service, guarding the Ukrainian border in the north, and later moved to the East, specifically to Bakhmut, one of the hottest spots on the front line. Junior Sergeant Ostap Brynskyi established himself as an initiative-taking, competent, and experienced serviceman, possessing a high level of professional training. Since April 28, 2023, Ostap Brynskyi, as part of a consolidated unit of the Chop Border Guard Service (Type C) of the 94th Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, participated in combat operations in the Donetsk region. On August 19, 2023, during assault operations, the positions of Ukrainian border guards in the area of the village of Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region were shelled by Russian troops. The enemy repeatedly attempted to counterattack these positions, carrying out over 50 shellings within a day, using multiple rocket launch systems, large-caliber artillery, mortars, and automatic grenade launchers, and employing aviation to strike. Junior Sergeant Ostap Brynskyi inflicted fire damage on the enemy's personnel and covered his comrades. In a combat engagement, the serviceman sustained injuries incompatible with life. Ostap is survived by his parents, well-known artists Bohdan and Oksana Brynskyi, and a brother who is also fighting at the front. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for loyalty to the military oath, Junior Sergeant Ostap Bohdanovych Brynskyi was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.Memory Book of the MIA System
