- Scout Pavel Karpuk (call sign Student) was killed in action on July 5, 2022, near the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region. While on combat duty, he received fatal injuries during an enemy rocket attack. In June, the defender turned 27 years old. Pavel was born in the village of Hoshcha, Rivne region. He stu at a local comprehensive school. Then he graduated from the Sosnivsky Professional and Technical Lyceum. He was interested and engagin ed in aviation sports, computer design. In 2016, he decided to link his life with the army, so he went to military service under contract to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 14th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. He took part in the ATO/OOS in Donbas. He was repeatedly awarded by the command with awards for exemplary service and successful completion of combat tasks. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man, along with his comrades, continued to defend Ukraine from the occupiers. At that time, he was a senior scout-sniper of the 2nd category of the reconnaissance group "Night Shadows" of the brigade's reconnaissance company. Pavel performed extremely difficult tasks boldly and decisively. "Pavel was purposeful, strong-willed, and brave. He knew exactly who the enemy of our country is. He loved life and fought for his land for the sake of a bright future for each of us. A fearless but moderate warrior. A reliable and sincere friend. A loving son and brother. We mourn... This is unbearable pain," said Lyudmila, the wife of the deceased's brother. The hero was buried in his native village. At home, Pavel's mother, brother, sister, other relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms were waiting for him.
