Pavlo S. Shcherbyna (Marsel)

Lieutenant Pavlo Shcherbyna (call sign Marcel) was killed on December 15, 2022 near the settlement of Kurdyumivka in the Donetsk region. In the battle with the enemy, he sustained fatal injuries during a mortar shelling. The officer was forever 30 years old. Pavlo was born and lived in Lviv. He stuwas killed at school No. 84. Then he graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. In parallel, he completed the military department at the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny. In civilian life, he was engaged in entrepreneurial activity - he had his own cafe with coffee and burgers. He planned to expand. He was passionate about football and mountain tourism. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he joined the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign. He held the position of the commander of the grenade launcher platoon. He took part in the counteroffensive in the Kherson region, then defended the Donetsk region. "Pavlo was a responsible, fair and good person, a true friend! This is a great loss for the family and his friends. He taught and did so much in this world that with his departure, a great void has been left in all of us that cannot be replaced by anyone..." shared the officer's sister Khrystyna Shcherbyna. The defender was buried in the Mariyns'ke Field of the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Pavlo is survived by his parents, two sisters and a nephew.
