Pavlo V. Herus (Heroin)

Soldier Pavlo Herush (call sign Heroin) was killed on August 12, 2023 near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. During the evacuation of wounded comrades, he came under enemy mortar fire and suffered fatal injuries. Exactly one month earlier, on July 12, the warrior turned 49 years old. Pavlo was from the village of Petrovirivka in the Odesa region. He received secondary education at the Petrovirivka Lyceum. He worked as a driver-expeditor at the Odesa Bread Factory No. 3. He dedicated his free time to his family and friends. At the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, on March 7, 2022, the man joined the ranks of the defenders. He served in the 474th separate rifle battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "My brother Pavlo went to the military enlistment office without hesitation, despite the fact that he was a cancer patient. He cared about the fate of our country. He also stood up to protect not only his family, but all citizens of our Ukraine! Courageous, determined, fair, open, fearless - that's how he will forever remain in our hearts," said Lyudmyla Herush. The defender was buried at the Western Cemetery in Odesa. Pavlo is survived by his mother Antonina Oleksiivna, daughters Veronika and Mariia, sisters: Natalia, Tetiana and Lyudmyla. The father of the deceased, Valerii Oleksandrovych, was killed 3 months after the death of his son - his heart could not bear it.
