- Junior Sergeant Petro Bardak was killed on August 1, 2023, while performing his official duties near the settlement of Pivnichne in the Donetsk region. During enemy shelling, he received fatal injuries. On July 31, the defender would have turned 33 years old. Petro was from the village of Lishchyn in the Lviv region. He studied at rural school No. 16. Later, he attended school No. 5 in the village of Hrusiatichi. After completing his studies, he served in the military in Poltava. In his free time, he was passionate about fishing and football. During the full-scale war, Petro fought for his country in the ranks of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. He defended the eastern direction of the front. "You are no longer here. In the other world, I hope it's better for you. I would like to tell you these words while looking into your eyes, but it's not meant to be. I want to thank you for everything you did for Ukraine, for your loved ones. Maybe others will forget about you in a year or two, but our family will remember. Your contribution to the future of the country will not be forgotten. You, too, will not be forgotten, because the memory of the Heroes who have left this difficult world forever is kept by every family. They say time heals, but no, you just get used to the pain, but subconsciously you still feel it. Only good memories from the past, which cannot be returned, come to mind. They will always live in my memory," wrote a close person of the fallen defender. Petro was buried in his native village. He is survived by his mother, sisters, and brothers. The soldier was posthumously awarded the "Cross of the Hero" distinction.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
