Petro M. Basanskyi (Bas)

Sergeant Petro Basanskyi (call sign Bas) died on November 24, 2023, while performing his duties to protect the Motherland in the area of the village of Robotyne, Zaporizhia region. The warrior was forever 40 years old. Petro was from the village of Kolodyazhne, Volyn region. He obtained a general secondary education. He was passionate about cars, so he connected his professional activity with them. He worked as a driver and long-distance driver. In 2014-2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. On the first day of the full-scale invasion, on February 24, 2022, the man again went to defend his state from the enemy. He initially served in the ranks of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he took part in the battles for the liberation of the Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv regions, and also spent a long time on the Bakhmut direction. Later, he was transferred to the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. There he took the position of the commander of the artillery fire adjustment section of the artillery fire adjustment platoon of the battery command and artillery reconnaissance. He fought in the Tauride direction. "My father was a true patriot with a Ukrainian heart, he sincerely loved Ukraine. I am proud of my dad, he is a Hero," said Anna Basanska. The warrior was buried in his native village. Petro is survived by his mother, wife, son, and daughter.
