- Soldier Petro Khomych died on June 11, 2024 at the Vinnytsia Hospital named after Academician O.I. Yushchenko. In early June, he sustained a mine-explosive head injury while performing a combat mission near the village of Umanske, Donetsk region. The doctors were unable to save the defender. Petro was 28 years old. He was born in the village of Kolky in the Rivne region. In civilian life, he worked as a track fitter at the Rivne track machine station of the "Center for Railway Construction and Repair" branch. The war caught him at the Professional Development Center of Ukrzaliznytsia in Zolotonosha, where he was studying to become a driver of railway construction machines and a wide-gauge track layer. He was responsible and demanding of himself. In his free time, he visited the church, participated in worship services, and dreamed of donating a valuable icon to the church. He planned to get married and started home renovations. He wanted to buy a car from the showroom, so it would smell of paint. On February 26, 2024, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in military unit A4886. "Petro was very purposeful and had big plans for the future. He was humane, with a big kind heart, and had enough love for everyone, he always wanted to help," his colleagues and acquaintances said about him. "Young and energetic, steadfast and brave, sociable and reliable, faithful to the military oath and his country until his last breath. This is how his loving family, friends, and fellow villagers knew him," added the Dubrovytsia City Council. Petro is survived by his parents and twin brother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
