- Sergeant Petro Pidkolesny was killed on May 26, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Umanske in the Donetsk region. Petro was 40 years old. He was born in the village of Voloskе in the Khmilnytskyi region. After graduating from the Kozyatyn Higher Vocational School of Railway Transport, he came to work on the railway. For over 18 years, he worked at the Zhmerynka Operational Wagon Depot. He was a 5th class wagon inspector-repairman at the "Hrechany" wagon maintenance point of the Derazhnia station. He dreamed of renting land and engaging in agronomy. On February 16, 2023, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in the engineering and sapper troops of the 68th separate Yager brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. He had awards for conscientious performance of official duties, high professionalism, initiative and diligence shown during the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. "Petro was very kind, modest, silent and balanced. While other guys could fight, he never did. Petro had been hardworking since childhood, he liked to work with technology," said Natalia Maksimova, the elder of the Voloskivskyi community. "He was an honest, sensitive person, had authority at work, and was responsible in the performance of his duties. He was conscientious and disciplined, repeatedly detected and eliminated faults that threatened the safety of train traffic," added the deceased fighter's colleagues.
