Petro O. Shamshur

Captain Petro Shamshur died on February 15, 2023, in a tank battle with Russian invaders near the city of Kreminna in the Luhansk region. The defender was 28 years old. Petro was born in the village of Desnyanske, Chernihiv region. After the 9th grade, he entered the Chernihiv Radio Engineering College. Then he studied at the Kyiv Institute of Technology and Design, but did not complete his studies and in 2013 he joined the National Guard of Ukraine. In 2015-2019, he studied at the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine. Since 2019, the young officer has been carrying out combat missions in the area of the Joint Forces Operation. During the full-scale war, he was the commander of the reserve company of the 31st brigade named after Major General Oleksandr Radievsky. He fought on the eastern front. "My beloved is the best, and I love him endlessly! I believe that he is always by my side and protects his daughter!" wrote the officer's wife Anastasia. Petro was buried in his native village. At home, his wife and daughter were waiting for him. The National Guardsman was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
