Petro P. Mahrelo

Senior soldier Petro Magrelo (call sign Batya) was killed by a bullet from an enemy sniper on May 9, 2024 near the village of Pisky in the Kharkiv region. The defender was 50 years old. Petro was born in the city of Sarny in the Rivne region. He obtained a law degree in "Jurisprudence" at the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. He served in the internal affairs bodies of the linear department of the Sarny station of the Lviv railway. During the full-scale invasion, he defended the country as part of the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of rifleman-operator of the 1st mechanized company, 1st platoon, 1st section. "A positive person, a lively one who loved life. But above all, he loved his family. He is forever alive in our hearts, cheerful and talkative, simple and straightforward, he will forever remain in our memory," his wife said. The defender was buried in the Alley of Heroes of his hometown. Petro is survived by his wife, daughter, son and mother.
