Petro R. Drachuk

Born on June 24, 1967, in the village of Ploske, Ostroh district, Rivne region. In 1984, he graduated from the secondary school of the village of Ploske, Ostroh district, then from Shepetivka Secondary Vocational Technical School No. 20 (city of Shepetivka, Khmelnytskyi region). From 1994, he worked as a locksmith, then as an operator of the control and measuring instruments, automation, and telemechanics section at the oil pumping station "Novyny" of the Branch "Main Oil Pipelines "Druzhba" of the Public Joint Stock Company "Ukrtransnafta" (village of Ploske, Ostroh district, Rivne region). On February 5, 2015, he was called up for military service by the Ostroh District Military Commissariat of Rivne region as part of partial mobilization into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From February 20 to March 7, 2015, he served at the 233rd General Military Training Ground of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A4152 (field post V1670), village of Mala Lyubasha, Kostopil district, Rivne region). From March 7 to April 22, 2015, he served in the 73rd Marine Special Operations Center of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1594, city of Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region). Since April 22, 2015, he has been a senior gunner of the mortar platoon of the mortar battery of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 93rd separate guards mechanized Kharkiv twice Red Banner, orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1302, urban-type settlement of Cherkaské, Novomoskovsk district, Dnipropetrovsk region). Since April 23, 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On August 13, 2015, soldier Drachuk, along with soldier Vitkivskyi, was on combat duty at the firing positions of the mortar battery of the 93rd brigade near the village of Opytne, Yasynuvata district, Donetsk region. Around 22:40, the firing positions of the aforementioned battery were shelled by Russian-terrorist groups using BM-21 "Grad" multiple rocket launchers and 152 mm caliber artillery systems. As a result of the shelling, soldier Vitkivskyi was killed on the spot, and soldier Drachuk sustained multiple injuries, after which he received first aid and was evacuated to the 66th military mobile hospital in the city of Krasnoarmiisk (now Pokrovsk). On August 14, 2015, soldier Drachuk died from his injuries near the city of Selydove, Donetsk region, during evacuation to the 66th military mobile hospital in the city of Krasnoarmiisk (now Pokrovsk). On August 19, 2015, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Ploske, Ostroh district, Rivne region.
