Petro Ya. Shumskyi

Paratrooper Petro Shumskyi was killed on February 5, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region. The defender did not live to see his 30th birthday. Petro was born in the village of Polyana, Lviv region. He studied at the Polyana Secondary School of the 1st degree. He then graduated from the Lviv Technical School of Railway Transport. He worked in various jobs, his main profession was a DJ. He was also a member of a public organization and engaged in volunteer activities. In 2019, he underwent military service. The following year, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He carried out combat missions in the ATO / OOS zone. During the full-scale war, Petro was a fighter of the 80th separate air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From the first days of the invasion, together with his comrades-in-arms, he held back the advance of the Russian invaders and repelled their attacks on the front line. "A person you can't mention without a smile... He was a patriot from childhood and loved Ukraine. Always cheerful. No matter the situation, Petro always had a ray of positivity. Brave, never afraid of anything. Straightforward, sincere and a loyal friend. He rejoiced in every moment in life and had many plans for the future..." - said the childhood friend of the fallen. The warrior was buried in his native village. At home, his mother and two brothers were waiting for Petro.
