Rodion D. Sharpan

29-year-old Sergeant Rodion Sharpan was killed in action on April 23, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in his native Donetsk region. During the battle, the defender sustained an explosive injury and lost a leg. He was buried in earth, but his comrades managed to dig him out, only to find that the fighter was no longer breathing. Rodion was born in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. He graduated from Kramatorsk Ukrainian Gymnasium and Odesa Legal College. Later, he received a higher legal education at Donbas Institute of Technology and Management. In his free time, he was fond of cars: he was engaged in tuning. He loved to do everything with his own hands - from welding to painting. With the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014, the guy went to the front as a volunteer. He served in the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He participated in the ATO and was awarded by the command. In December 2021, Rodion's contract ended. However, just two months later, a full-scale war began. On February 24, 2022, Rodion gathered his things and went to the military enlistment office himself. He ended up in a fire support platoon and took on the role of an anti-tank operator. Rodion managed to fight for 2 months in this war. He accepted his last battle near the village of Yatzkivka, Donetsk region. "It's already been five months since I haven't heard my child's voice. The realization of death has not yet come. It seems that there is simply no connection with him, that he cannot call temporarily... After his death, friends, classmates, acquaintances of Rodion called, they told me a lot about him. Only now have I found out that my child helped so many people, always came to the aid of his friends. Comrades said that he was very brave, never afraid of anything, and with him, they were never afraid. Since 2014, he had been constantly on duty. He loved his granddaughter Yaroslav very much, with whom he had so little time to see. Once Rodik said that he was no longer afraid to die, that there was already a small copy of him, a continuation of his life... It shouldn't be like this, he was only 29 years old," said mother Olena Tabunchyk. Rodion left behind his parents and a 2-year-old granddaughter.
