Roland S. Popovych

Born on July 22, 1994, in the city of Berehove, Zakarpattia region. In 2012, he graduated from the 9th grade of the general education school No. 1 in Berehove. In the spring of 2013, he was drafted for compulsory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After some time, he served under contract in the 15th separate guard mountain infantry Sevastopol battalion of the 128th separate guard mountain infantry Turkestan-Zakarpattia twice Red Banner brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1778, city of Uzhhorod). Since the spring of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On June 14, 2014, soldier Popovych was killed as a result of a gunshot wound he received from a shot fired from the cabin of a car he had stopped for inspection while on duty at a checkpoint in the area of the village of Makarove, Stanytsia Luhanska district, Luhansk region. On June 16, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the city of Berehove, Zakarpattia region.
