Roman H. Bondarenko

Shooter Roman Bondarenko (call sign Rem) was killed on May 3, 2023, during an enemy mortar attack near the village of Hryhorivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 46 years old. Roman was born in the village of Rozdollia in the Kharkiv region. He graduated from the Kremenchuk Vocational College of Transport Infrastructure, specializing in "Maintenance and Repair of Railway Structures and Track Facilities". For 26 years, he worked on the railway, holding various positions: track worker, signaling technician, crossing attendant, and stoker. He loved football and played for the team of the Bilyaivska village council of the Lozivskyi district in the Kharkiv region. He also played for the football team of the Lozivska track distance. During the full-scale war, he held the position of a rifleman in the 2nd Rifle Company of the 124th Separate Rifle Battalion of the 113th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. "He volunteered from the first days of the full-scale invasion because he was a true patriot of his country. Roman was a very positive person, he charged those around him with his energy. He didn't pay attention to or show anyone his fatigue. He was the first to volunteer for any task. He was always ready to cover his comrades. He had plans for the future: he was an avid footballer, so after the war, he was going to develop football in the village and train the youth. He dreamed of traveling with his family," said his wife Olena. The defender was buried in the village of Veselie in the Kharkiv region. Roman is survived by his wife and son.
