Roman H. Yefymenko

Roman Hryhorovych Yefymenko was born on June 30, 1975, in Izmail, Odesa region. In March 2022, Senior Soldier Roman Yefymenko was called up for military service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine as part of mobilization. The serviceman diligently fulfilled his official duties, holding a position in the supply unit, and approached the tasks assigned to him with responsibility. Since January 2023, Senior Soldier Roman Yefymenko served in one of the border units of the 1st Border Detachment. During this time, he established himself as a responsible and disciplined serviceman, consistently carrying out orders from the command and demonstrating reasonable initiative. Since March 31, 2023, Roman Yefymenko, as part of a consolidated border unit of the 1st Border Detachment, carried out combat missions during the defense of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The border guard repeatedly engaged in gunfire with the enemy, inflicting irretrievable and sanitary losses on the invader. On April 15, 2023, the enemy conducted another massive artillery bombardment and attempted to storm the positions of the defense forces using armored vehicles. While in position, Roman Yefymenko came under enemy fire and died from shrapnel wounds. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as loyalty to the military oath, Senior Soldier Roman Hryhorovych Yefymenko was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
