- Senior Lieutenant Roman Prendota (call sign Iron 5.1) was killed on November 11, 2022, near the village of Prechystivka in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained fatal injuries due to enemy artillery shelling. The officer was 39 years old. Roman was born in the town of Khyriv in the Lviv region. He graduated from the National University "Lviv Polytechnic," where he obtained a degree in engineering. He moved to Kyiv, where he lived for over 20 years. He worked at "APT Ukraine Group," where he progressed from a designer to the chief engineer of the project department. He participated in the construction of many projects both in Ukraine and abroad. He loved the mountains, nature, and active recreation, and had been hiking since childhood. With the onset of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered to defend Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. He held the position of platoon commander and performed the duties of company commander. "We were in a civil marriage. When Roma was killed, I was five months pregnant. The baby had not yet been born, but he was already a wonderful father, eagerly waiting and very happy. We last spoke on November 10, 2022; the next day I was supposed to go for an ultrasound to find out the baby's gender. Roma was very much looking forward to this, but on November 11, 2022, at about 7:00 AM, my beloved died without ever knowing that we would have a son. Roma went to defend Ukraine as a volunteer from the very first days. He was honest, reliable, decisive, principled, and very kind. An intelligent, cultured person, a sincere patriot," said Larysa Kolesnyk. The hero was buried at the Mars Field of the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Roman is survived by his wife, son, relatives, friends, and comrades. Posthumously, the officer was awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Steel Cross."Memory Platform 'Memorial'
