- Border guard Roman Dedyulya (call sign Hawk) was killed on June 12, 2024 while performing a combat mission near the village of Shabelne in the Kharkiv region. The warrior was forever 21 years old. Roman was from the village of Nove Misto in the Lviv region. From childhood, he dreamed of protecting his country and being a soldier. He studied at the school of his native village, and then immediately went to serve. Since November 2021, the guy has been serving under a contract in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He served in the 1st (Donetsk) border detachment. During the full-scale invasion, he held the position of deputy head of the border outpost for moral and psychological support of the reconnaissance border outpost. In 2023, he took an active part in the battles for the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. He underwent military training in the United Kingdom and Moldova. In 2023, Roman was awarded a certificate for high professionalism, loyalty to the military oath and diligence on the occasion of Border Guard Day, as well as the badge "For Courage in Protecting the State Border of Ukraine". In 2024, he received the award "Veteran of War - Participant in Combat Operations". "My brother Roman was a man of his word, honest, fair, and reliable. He will forever remain in the memory of his relatives, friends, comrades-in-arms and simply all who knew him, smiling, cheerful, the soul of the company," said the cousin of the fallen Veronika Yatsyna. The warrior was buried in his native village. Roman is survived by his parents, brothers, wife, other relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.
