Roman O. Huryn (Skorpion)

Soldier Roman Gurin (call sign Scorpion) died on February 23, 2023 in combat with the enemy in the area of the settlement of New York in the Donetsk region. The defender was forever 33 years old. Roman was born and lived in the city of Berezne, Rivne region. He graduated from 11 grades of the local secondary school No. 2. He worked as a construction worker on seasonal jobs. He built a house for his family with his own hands, in which he did not have time to live. He was passionate about cars and everything related to them. During the full-scale war, in April 2022, Roman joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to defend his country from the invaders. He served in the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo. He was a sapper. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended Luhansk, Kherson and Donetsk regions. For the conscientious fulfillment of the assigned tasks, he was awarded the badge of the brigade commander "Golden Lion". "My beloved is everything in my life... MyRoma taught me to love and be happy. We created a family and dreamed of our future. I lived with him! He always joked and raised the fighting spirit! Roman was a smiling and kind person, a loving husband, a courageous, brave and fair comrade-in-arms! Comrades remember him as a courageous and brave warrior!.. And then my heart was torn out... It's as if everything stopped for me and in anticipation that this is a terrible dream, that my beloved will call and come. I understand with my head, but I cannot accept it with my heart. It hurts me very much... And among all around I am looking for myRoma... Time does not heal..." - shared Irina Gurin. The hero was buried on February 27, 2023 with full military honors in the city cemetery in the tract Lukavets in his hometown. Two sons and a wife were left without a loving father and husband, and parents and a sister were left without a caring son and brother. The warrior was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
