- Born on July 31, 1985, in the city of Dnipropetrovsk (now Dnipro). For some time, he lived in the city of Sumy. In 2002, he graduated from specialized school No. 25 in Sumy. From 2005 to 2009, he worked as an ice cream producer at the Open Joint Stock Company "Dnipropetrovsk Cold Storage Plant," from 2009 to 2011 in various fields of entrepreneurial activity in Dnipropetrovsk, and from 2011 to 2013 as a production section operator at the Limited Liability Company "KPD" in Dnipropetrovsk. In 2013, he graduated from the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine (now in Dnipro) with a degree in "Management." In August 2013, together with like-minded individuals, he founded the sports club "DneprRun," aimed at promoting and developing running in Dnipropetrovsk (now Dnipro). In the summer of 2014, he joined the ranks of the special police patrol battalion "Dnipro-1" of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. From the summer of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On August 18, 2014, police sergeant Kharchenko was killed during a battle while liberating the city of Ilovaisk in Donetsk Oblast. He was buried in the cemetery of Dnipropetrovsk. On September 11, 2015, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the facade of specialized school No. 25 (80 Dekabristiv Street) in Sumy, honoring the graduates who died during the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine, among whom is the name Roman Kharchenko.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
