- Soldier Roman Stusyak (call sign Date) died on October 22, 2022 during assault operations near the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region. He was 33 years old. Roman was born and lived in Ternopil. He graduated from Ternopil National Economic University with a degree in "Banking". However, he did not work in his field, but in the construction sector abroad. He started earning there from his student years. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man left his usual life and took up arms. He fought for his country in the ranks of the 24th separate assault battalion "Aydar" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "My husband, having no relation to military affairs, selflessly took up the defense of the Motherland. He was a fighter of the legendary battalion "Aydar". He always repeated that he would die with a smile on his face, because he went not for glory, awards or money, but for me and for his son. During the last task, the unit was surrounded, but Roma fought to the last breath. It is very important for me to preserve the memory of my husband in any way," said Maria Stusak. At home, Roman was awaited by his wife Maria, son Mark, other relatives and friends. Posthumously, the hero was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree and given the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Ternopil".Memory Platform 'Memorial'
