- Lieutenant Roman Vedmedenko was killed in action on July 13, 2022, blown up by an enemy mine while performing a combat mission. He was 23 years old. Roman was born in the village of Belokurakino, Luhansk region. In 2018, he signed a contract with the tank forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, participated in combat operations in the territory of the Joint Forces Operation. After completing his contract, he decided to build a military career. He stuwas killed in action at the Faculty of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Intelligence of the Kharkiv Military Institute of Tank Forces. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine from Russian occupiers. He was the commander of the reconnaissance platoon of one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The hero was buried in the village of Velyki Kanivtsi in Cherkasy region. Fellow soldiers and representatives of local authorities came to see the warrior off on his last journey. "My heart is filled with anger and hatred for the aggressor who treacherously started a brutal war that takes the lives of our children - young men who would have lived and built our state. Our brave warrior-defenders are dignifiedly defending Ukrainian land from the Russian horde, giving their most precious - their lives, to protect the peaceful population: children, women, grandfathers and grandmothers. We do not doubt that we will win and there will be revenge for Roman, for each of those who was killed in action, for every atrocity committed on Ukrainian soil," said Sergey Lyubyvy, the head of the settlement, at the farewell ceremony for the deceased defender.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
