- Defender Roman Bezukh (call sign Fastiv) was killed on June 29, 2023, defending the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region from Russian occupants. The warrior's life was cut short by enemy shelling. The defender was 43 years old. Roman was born in the city of Fastiv, Kyiv region. He studied at the local school No. 7. Later, he obtained the profession of a refrigeration equipment operator at the Fastiv Vocational and Technical School. He served in the military. After returning home, he joined the ranks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He served in the Berkut unit. In 2004, he left the service and worked in security units. He was passionate about music and playing musical instruments. He loved fishing. On the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, Roman defended his native country and region. As part of the territorial defense, he participated in battles for Bucha, Gostomel, and Irpin. He served in the 243rd separate battalion of the 114th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Territorial Defense. He had three wounds and two awards. "You always told everyone that I'm your little sister, even though we're not related... I always knew that I had Roma Berkut... You always supported me in the difficult times of my youth... I would run to you, and you always found kind words of support for me... Forgive me that perhaps I did not support you enough when you needed it so much... But you were very strong in spirit, no matter how life broke you! Thank you for everything! You will always have a special place in my heart, brother... Rest in peace," wrote the deceased's friend Yulia Shylova. "Our comrade Roman Bezukh was killed on the Bakhmut direction. Eternal memory to the Hero of Ukraine. Brother, rest in peace, may the earth be soft for you. Heroes do not die, they are forever in our hearts. Glory to the Heroes of Ukraine," wrote comrade Boris Sapogovskyi. The defender was buried at the International Cemetery in his hometown. Roman is survived by his sister with her family, friends, and comrades.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
