- Roman Gladiy (call sign Kep) of the "Azovets" regiment was killed in action on March 26, 2022, defending the city of Mariupol on Donetsk from the occupiers. The warrior was 40 years old. Roman Gladiy was from the village of Berezhnytsia in Lviv region. He stu at the village school and then graduated from the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. He worked in the police in the cities of Stryi and Zhydachiv. He held the rank of police captain. When the Russian-Ukrainian war began in 2014, Roman joined the then still "Azov" battalion, which later became part of the NGU. He was the commander of a mortar platoon. He participated in the ATO / OOS in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, Roman, together with his comrades in the OZSP "Azov," defended the city of Mariupol, where he had lived for the last few years. He went through battles for "Azovstal" and courageously defended the city until his last breath. The last words Roman managed to say to his wife before his death were: "I love you very much. Tell Zlatushka that dad was a Hero. Please bury me at home." "He was sensitive, very kind, and loving father, and a true patriot. This is a very painful loss for the whole family," said the relatives of the fallen warrior. The body of the defender was returned from the occupied territory and buried on September 1, 2022, in his native village of Berezhnytsia, as he wished. Roman is survived by his parents, wife, daughter, and son. Posthumously, Sergeant Roman Gladiy was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
