Roman S. Kalenyk

Kalenik Roman Serhiyovych was born on November 2, 1984, in the village of Oleksandrivka, Bilozerka District, Kherson Oblast. In 2005, he graduated from Oleksandrivka Secondary School I–III degrees. He has been with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine since July 2022. He held the position of driver-sapper of the underwater demining unit of the underwater demining group of the pyrotechnic works unit, underwater and humanitarian demining of the emergency rescue squad of special purpose of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kherson Oblast. On May 6, 2023, at approximately 14:10 in the village of Chornobayivka, Kherson Oblast, while performing his official duties, likely during the neutralization of explosive devices, Roman Kalenik was shot by artillery from the left-bank part of Kherson Oblast, as a result of which he sustained injuries incompatible with life. He is survived by his wife and son.
