Roman S. Kodak

28-year-old Roman Kodak was killed on March 4, 2022 while defending his hometown of Polohy in the Zaporizhia region. While carrying out a combat mission, the defender sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Roman lived in Polohy. He studied at the local school No. 4. He graduated from Zaporizhia National University. He worked at the "Leleka group" company. He started a family. The couple was expecting their firstborn when the full-scale war began. From the first days of the Russian invaders' invasion, Roman joined the ranks of the local territorial defense. He patrolled and defended his hometown. More than anything, he dreamed of living in a free Ukraine, raising children, but it was not to be. "Roma was the best son in the world. He loved and respected his family, friends, and colleagues. I don't know the details of his death yet... They said he saved a comrade by throwing him over the fence, but he didn't have time to save himself," said the deceased's mother Lidiya. "Roma was an extraordinarily kind and fair person. He was killed defending his hometown, his family and his pregnant wife. He will be forever in our memory," wrote his friend Andriy Rybalchenko. "My student Romanchyk, my pride, the pride of our school No. 4, the pride of Polohy, the pride of Ukraine, eternal memory to you, honor and great gratitude for the sacrificial feat! A great loss, irreparable for all of us. Sadness, grief, despair... In our memory forever Roman Kodak - a Man, a Patriot, a Citizen, a Son, a Husband, a Father," wrote Alisa Chernenko. "Rest in peace, brother! We will take revenge," wrote his comrade Yevhen. The warrior was buried in his hometown. Roman is survived by his grandmother, mother, wife and daughter, who was born 2 months after the death of her father.
