- Senior soldier Roman Yatskov was killed on September 4, 2023, near the village of Novopil in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of enemy shelling from MLRS with cluster munitions. The defender was 32 years old. Roman was born and lived in the village of Yakymivtsi, Ternopil region. He graduated from the Lanivtsi Vocational School and mastered the profession of a carpenter. But he dedicated his entire life to working with agricultural machinery. After completing his military service in 2010, he worked as a driver of agricultural machinery at the PSP "VLAD". He devoted his free time to his family: his wife Maria and children Yuri and Irina. In 2014-2015, he participated in the ATO as part of the 24th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a machine gunner. On February 25, 2022, he went to the front again. He served in the 44th separate artillery brigade named after Hetman Danylo Apostol. He held the position of driver of a self-propelled artillery platoon of a self-propelled artillery battery of a self-propelled artillery division. "Roma was an extraordinarily good person with a keen sense of justice. He loved his native land and worked on it all his life. He never aspired to seek a better life abroad, but believed that everything necessary for happiness is here, in his native Ukraine. From the first day of the full-scale war, he defended his native land and was devoted to the oath until his last breath. Roma was valued by his comrades-in-arms as a professional and a reliable companion. For his family and friends, he will forever remain a good son, a loving husband and father, the best brother, and a faithful friend," said the soldier's sister Ruslana. The warrior was buried in his native village. Roman Yatskov is survived by his parents, sister, wife, son and daughter.
