Biography
Roman Tarasovych Ratushnyi was born on July 5, 1997 in Kyiv. In 2012, he entered the Financial and Legal College, where he obtained a higher legal education. At the end of 2013, he participated in the Euromaidan, and along with other students, suffered from the attack of the "Berkut" on the night of November 30, 2013. After the Euromaidan, he worked as a journalist for some time on the "Metro to Troeshchyna" project about Kyiv officials, wrote about energy and tender deals with diesel fuel at "Ukrzaliznytsia". He was an active participant in the movement to preserve the Protasiv Yar natural area in Kyiv. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Roman Ratushnyi became a volunteer in the ranks of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, and created the "Protasiv Yar" unit. He first defended Kyiv, then acted in the Sumy region, and participated in the deoccupation of settlements in the region. Since the beginning of April 2022, Roman Ratushnyi has been fighting in the Kharkiv region, in particular in the Izium district, in the reconnaissance platoon of the 2nd motorized infantry battalion of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". He was killed on June 9, 2022 in a battle near Izium in the Kharkiv region, falling into an enemy ambush. He was buried at the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv.Burial place
