- A 24-year-old soldier, Roman Chalyi, was killed on April 6, 2022, in the area of the village of Pribuzhke in the Mykolaiv region. While carrying out a combat mission, he was blown up by an enemy mine along with his comrades. Three soldiers at that time. Roman was born in the village of Kyshchenets, Cherkasy region. He graduated from the city school in 2015. Then he moved to Vinnytsia. He entered the Vinnytsia National Technical University, where he stu at the Department of Laser and Optoelectronic Technology. He worked at "Nova Poshta" as a dispatcher for the delivery service. On February 25, 2022, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter March. He held the position of senior gunner of the mortar battery. "Roman was quiet, calm, kind, always fought for justice. All colleagues brought him their computers, laptops for repair - Roman had the ability for it," his friends said. "The guy was physically strong, active, and fair. He had a talent for learning. Mathematical sciences came easily to him. So after school, he easily entered the Vinnytsia Technical University. Since his school years, he never feared to take responsibility in resolving complex situations. And being called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was an honorable duty for him, which he diligently and conscientiously fulfilled during his military service. The command of the military unit expressed sincere gratitude to the parents for raising their son, a true patriot of our independent Ukraine. This trait remained with him throughout his life!" noted in the Mankivska community. The young warrior was buried in his native village in the Cherkasy region.
