- Soldier Roman Huharik (call sign Kvak) was killed in action on July 24, 2022, in the village of Kodema in Donetsk region. During the enemy artillery shelling, he received injuries incompatible with life. The warrior did not live to see his 40th birthday, just a week. Roman was born in the village of Kustolove, Poltava region. He stuwas killed in action there at school. After the 9th grade, he entered the road technical school. He received the profession of a mechanic. After serving in the army, he worked at the agrofirm LLC "Chysta Krynitsa", held the position of safety engineer, and then was a combine harvester and mechanic. In his free time, he loved to fish. He was fond of football. "For his conscientious work, Roman was respected by his colleagues and fellow villagers. He enjoyed authority in the village, had a firm civic position, actively participated in community life, and was always ready to help. Roman Volodymyrovych was a pride for his parents, a reliable support for his wife Iryna, a good and loving father for his daughter Yeva and son Dmytro," they told in the native Drabynivska community. With the beginning of the full-scale war, Roman joined the ranks of the territorial defense in Novi Sanzhary. Then he served in Borodyanka and Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region. Later, he went to defend the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region. He held the position of a grenadier of the 1st rifle company of the 1st rifle battalion of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. "The best husband, son, brother, friend. He was kind, unselfish, kind, hardworking and responsible," said his daughter-in-law Yevheniya Huharik. Roman was buried in his native village. The defender left behind his mother, brother, wife, son, and daughter. He was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree (posthumously). On July 24, 2023, a memorial plaque in honor of Roman Huharik was solemnly opened on the facade of the Kustolivsky educational institution building.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
