Roman V. Melnychenko

Soldier Roman Melnychенко was killed on May 1, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Zeleny Pole in the Donetsk region. The defender was saving an injured comrade but lost his own life. He was 29 years old. Roman was born in the Russian city of Nadym. He lived in the village of Shchaslyve in the Zaporizhzhia region since childhood. He graduated from the local school, worked, and started a family. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in Donbas. Then he returned to civilian life. With the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, Roman went to defend Ukraine from the occupiers for the second time. He served in the reconnaissance company of the 110th separate territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Roman, a participant in combat operations in the ATO zone, bravely defended our peace, our lives, and our country more than once. He always believed in Ukraine, was a sincere patriot, and therefore, without hesitation, went to defend his land from the very first days of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. He was responsible, sincere, friendly, kind, cheerful, and courageous," noted the Komyshuvakha community. The warrior was buried in the village of Shchaslyve in the Zaporizhzhia region. Roman is survived by his wife Iryna and daughter Polina.
