Roman V. Ostapovets (Ostap)

Soldier Roman Ostapovets (call sign Ostap) was killed on February 22, 2024 while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Orlivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was forever 24 years old. Roman was born in the city of Sarny, Rivne region. He graduated from the Taras Shevchenko Sarny Collegium and Vocational School No. 22, where he obtained a construction profession. After completing his studies, he served in the military. Then for some time he worked in a military unit in his hometown. In his spare time, he was engaged in sports. In September 2022, the man joined the ranks of the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of rifleman - grenade launcher assistant. "Even when you are in another dimension, we are always by your side," wrote the mother of the fallen. "Roman was a good person, always cheerful, kind, modest, very brave and responsible, he had authority among friends and acquaintances," said his friend Iryna Maltseva. Roman was buried in the Alley of Heroes in his hometown. The defender is survived by his mother Nina, brother Vitaliy, as well as other relatives and friends.
