Biography
Ryabko Roman Volodymyrovych was born on March 24, 1988, in the city of Karlivka in Poltava region, but he spent his childhood and youth in the village of Yaresky in the Shyshaky district of Poltava region, from where his ancestors originated. He studied at a local school and then at the Shyshaky gymnasium. In 2005, he enrolled in the Naval Academy named after P. S. Nakhimov. After successfully completing his studies, he was appointed commander of a military unit in Sevastopol. In 2011, he received the military rank of "Senior Lieutenant." In February 2014, Lieutenant Commander Roman Ryabko, remaining faithful to his military oath, left occupied Crimea. He served in Odesa, initially as the senior assistant to the commander on the landing ship "Yuriy Olefirenko," and from 2015, he was the commander of the sea dry cargo ship "Horlivka." In 2016, he received the military rank of "Captain of the third rank." Roman Ryabko was a repeated participant in the parade of the Naval Forces and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kyiv on the occasion of Independence Day. In 2021, he was appointed chief of staff - first deputy commander of the military unit. Since 2021, he defended the city of Mariupol in Donetsk region. He was killed on the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, February 24, 2022, as a result of an enemy airstrike on the territory of the Ochakiv military port. On March 13, 2022, the funeral service for Roman Ryabko took place in the St. Michael's Church in the village of Yaresky, Shyshaky district, Poltava region.Burial place
