Biography
Roman Volodymyrovych Shymanskyi was born on June 12, 1984, in the village of Mizhlyssia, Bar District, Vinnytsia Oblast. He lived in the village of Voinashivka. From 2002 to 2004, he served in the military in Kharkiv Oblast. After being discharged, he returned to civilian life for two years before rejoining the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he continued his service from 2006. Since 2014, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). He was assigned to one of the ground forces units to carry out a combat mission in the suburbs of Kyiv. On February 25, 2022, after completing the assigned task of blowing up a bridge to block the movement of enemy columns near the city of Irpin, the engineering barriers platoon was attacked by the forces of the Russian Federation. Roman Shymanskyi did not return to the designated gathering point. The hero was buried on March 7, 2022, in the village of Mizhlyssia. He is survived by his wife and two sons.Burial place
