Biography
Sobkiv Roman Vasylovych was born on April 8, 1989, in the village of Mali Didushychi, Stryi district, Lviv region. He graduated from the Velykodidushytska Secondary School of I–III degrees and Stryi Vocational School No. 8. In 2007, he was drafted for mandatory military service in the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In 2012, he graduated from the Academy of Internal Troops with a degree in "Automobile Transport." He served for four years in the tank unit of the 4th Operational Brigade named after Hero of Ukraine Sergeant Serhiy Mykhalchuk. He spent over a year on combat missions in Donbas. From February to April 2017, the personnel under the command of Major Sobkiv carried out service-combat tasks at a platoon stronghold in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region, providing cover for the positions of the company tactical group and preventing reconnaissance and sabotage groups from entering the territory controlled by Ukraine. From December 2017 to March 2018, he actively participated in carrying out service-combat tasks for the protection and defense of designated facilities in Donetsk region, fighting against illegal armed formations. In August 2021, he was transferred to the Special Purpose Unit "Omega" of the Northern Operational-Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine. On March 12, 2022, he was killed in battle near the village of Huta-Mezhyhirskaya in Kyiv region while covering the withdrawal of personnel.Burial place
