Roman Ya. Hrytskiv

42-year-old soldier Roman Hrytsiv was killed on September 28, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers in the Bakhmut direction of Donetsk region. Near the village of Spirne, he received a fatal shrapnel wound during an enemy mortar attack. Roman was from the village of Novi Skomorokhy, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He graduated from school there. He spent a significant part of his life working abroad - in the Czech Republic. He highly valued his relatives. He loved to sing. In May 2022, the man was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After training, he took the position of a gunner in a motorized infantry platoon in the 10th separate mountain assault brigade "Edelweiss". Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended Luhansk and Donetsk regions. "He was kind, sensitive, and friendly. He tried to help everyone. He replaced my own father. He loved life and his family," said the deceased's niece, Viktoria Perepichka. "He was hardworking and always smiling, despite all kinds of troubles. During his service, he had several concussions and shrapnel wounds, but he still remained with his comrades-in-arms because, as he said, the guys needed help," added his relatives. Roman was buried in his native village. He is survived by his mother, sister, brother, daughter, and nephews. The defender was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
