- Paratrooper Roman Yastremsky was killed on January 24, 2023 while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Bilohirivka in the Luhansk region. A month before this, the defender turned 31 years old. Roman was born in the village of Borynichi, Lviv region. He obtained the profession of a car mechanic at the Novorozdilsky Vocational Lyceum. He was married. He lived with his family in his native village. In his free time, he loved to fish. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man fought in the ranks of the 90th separate airmobile battalion named after the Hero of Ukraine, Senior Lieutenant Ivan Zubkov of the 81st Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a gunner. "I want his memory not to fade. In my life, I have not yet met such kind and sensitive people. Although we lived with him for 6.5 years, I am grateful to fate that it was he who was with me. This is a person who will never offend, will always come to help, will always listen. He loved his daughter very much, she is his princess. We miss him immensely. The war takes the best," said the wife of the fallen Maryana. "The war continues to bring grief and pain to our families and community. Roman was a courageous warrior and patriot, he went to defend his family, his homeland and all of us... The Khodoriv community expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the fallen defender," it was written on the community page. The paratrooper was buried in his native village.
