- 41-year-old sapper-scout Roman Oliynyk (call sign Rem) was killed on April 11, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the town of Popasna in the Luhansk region. The defender received fatal injuries during an enemy artillery shelling. Roman was born in the city of Chervonohrad, Lviv region. He received a secondary special education, worked in various mines in his region. He was a master-blaster. He loved active recreation in nature, fishing and hunting. He also loved to travel. Roman was a participant in the ATO from the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war. He was awarded the chest badge "Sign of Honor" and the medal "For Exemplary Service" in 2015-2016. After the army, the man returned to his native Chervonohrad and his business. For the last 4 years he worked as a miner abroad. However, when the full-scale war began, Roman returned to once again defend his native Ukraine from Russian occupiers. As part of the engineering-sapper platoon of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel, he went to Donbas. This time for the last time. "Roman was a good and cheerful person. He always came to help, never refused... He could comfort with a good word in difficult times and just sincerely support. He was a faithful friend, a loving father and a beloved husband. I felt calm and protected with him. We were building plans for the future and dreaming, like everyone else... And now this world is unbearable without him... This is unspeakable grief for our family!", - said his wife Olena. The defender was buried in the village of Bendyhy on his native Lviv region. Roman was waiting for his wife and two sons at home. Soldier Roman Oliynyk was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
