- Soldier Roman Piskun (call sign Tsygan) died on July 1, 2023 in a hospital in Dnipro. On June 26, during the performance of a combat mission near the village of Minkivka in the Donetsk region, he received a gunshot shrapnel wound to the chest. 6 days before the injury, the defender turned 37 years old. Roman was born in the village of Tarутine, Odesa region, but spent most of his life in the city of Karlivka, Poltava region. He obtained the profession of an electrician at the Karlivka Lyceum. He worked in his profession at the local power grid. He loved life, travel and football. In 2016-2019, the man took part in the ATO / JFO. He served under contract in the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozskyi. He fought in the Donetsk region. After being discharged, he returned to civilian life, but not for long. In 2020, he signed a new contract with his brigade and returned to the war. He held the position of mechanic-driver. He met the full-scale invasion on the front line together with his comrades-in-arms and continued to repel the enemy. He defended the Bakhmut direction of the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. "Roman was a very good person with a big kind heart. He was the best husband, faithful and devoted, always charged with his positivity, was generous and lived with optimism, never gave up and encouraged everyone. Where he was, it was never sad. He knew how to cheer people up. He bravely defended his country and believed in victory until the end of his days," his wife Olga, with whom they got married in 2023, said. The hero was buried in Karlivka, Poltava region. Roman left behind a wife and two children from his first marriage.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
