Roman Yu. Tsipan

29-year-old soldier Roman Tsipan was killed on December 28, 2023 in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhia region. During the enemy artillery shelling, he was buried in the ground, and his comrades-in-arms did not have time to dig him out. The fighter was killed from lack of oxygen. Roman was born and lived in Berezne, Rivne region. He graduated from 10 grades of Berezne Gymnasium named after Mykola Bukhovych. In 2009–2011, he studied at the Berezne Lyceum-Boarding School of Sports Profile. In 2015, he obtained the qualification of a physical education teacher at the West Ukrainian College "Polissya". The next two years he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From a young age, he was passionate about sports, engaged in weightlifting, and earned the title of Master of Sports, being part of the Rivne region national team at the Ukrainian Championship. He worked at a local fitness club. The man stood up to defend the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine in March 2022. He served in the 109th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the Zaporizhia direction. "He was a good, faithful and true friend, he loved life. We planned to live together, to start a family..." said his beloved Tetiana Bortnyk. "Everyone remembers him as a friendly, kind, lively and positive young man, always ready to help. Teachers and lecturers say that Roman was a well-mannered and capable student, an active student," added the Berezne community. Roman was buried with full military honors in the Alley of Glory of the city cemetery in the tract of Lukavets in his hometown. The defender left behind a mother, sister, brother, girlfriend, other relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.
