- Rostyslav Anatoliyovych Viter was born on September 8, 1997, in the town of Kulykivka, Chernihiv region. Rostyslav Viter took up arms to defend his homeland in 2018. He participated in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO). On February 24, 2022, as part of the border service unit "Sartana," Rostyslav was one of the first to encounter the enemy, as the unit was stationed along the line of demarcation. After desperate attempts to halt the advance of the enemy's superior forces, the unit where Rostyslav served was dispatched to carry out combat missions in sector "C" (defense of the city of Mariupol). In the Donetsk region, under intense artillery and mortar fire, the soldier, as part of a combined group from the 1st border detachment, bravely and heroically held back the advance of Russian troops, repeatedly risking his life. In March 2022, the defenders of Mariupol found themselves surrounded under conditions of complete blockade. Without any support or material resources, the border guards stood shoulder to shoulder to repel the attacks of the occupiers and inflicted irretrievable losses on them. According to soldiers who were part of the group with Rostyslav, during a combat mission on Torhova Street, the soldier sustained a fatal injury. On February 28, 2023, the body of Sergeant Rostyslav Viter was identified through DNA testing. The border guard was buried on March 3, 2023. For personal courage and selfless actions displayed in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for loyalty to the military oath, Sergeant Rostyslav Anatoliyovych Viter was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.Memory Book of the MIA System
