• Soldier Rostislav Kalina was killed on April 8, 2023 in a battle near the village of Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region. The fighter received fatal injuries as a result of a direct hit of an enemy mine on the dugout. The defender was forever 23 years old. Rostislav was born in the village of Orilka, Kharkiv region. After graduating from school, he obtained the profession of a technologist at the Loziv branch of the Kharkiv Automobile and Road Technical School. Later, he decided to connect his life with the army and went to serve under a contract. Since 2020, he has been carrying out combat missions in the area of the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas. He had many plans and dreams that were not destined to come true. During the full-scale invasion, Rostislav continued to fight for Ukraine. He served in the 109th battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade "Edelweiss". He held the position of a grenade launcher crew member in the fire support platoon. "Rostik was the only and long-awaited child in the family. My wife and I are almost of retirement age (we are 59 years old). There are no words to describe all the longing for the son, the grief in which one can drown. Rostik was in the ATO since 2020. He fought in the hot spots of the Donetsk region. I planted an orchard: cherries, apples, pears... I was waiting for grandchildren. And I didn't wait. I'm like a withered tree..." - wrote the father of the fallen. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Rostislav was awaited by his father Vasyl and mother Svitlana.
