Ruslan A. Moskalenko (Monakh)

Soldier Ruslan Moskalenko (call sign Monk) was killed on September 19, 2023 near the village of Hryhorivka in the Donetsk region. During enemy artillery shelling, the man sustained injuries incompatible with life. Ruslan was 38 years old. He was born in the village of Holodky in the Vinnytsia region. After finishing school, he studied at Vocational School No. 40, where he obtained the profession of a carpenter-builder. In peacetime, he was released from military service due to his health condition. For the last seven years, he worked as a construction worker in Poland. In February 2023, he returned home to defend his homeland. Initially, he underwent combat training in the Mykolaiv region, from where he was sent to the NCO school for his diligence and conscientious training. Then, as part of the 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade, he served in the combat zone in the Donetsk direction. He held the position of commander of the 3rd rifle squad. "Ruslan was kind, decent, conscientious, honest, fair and courageous," said his sister Svitlana Moskalenko about the fallen defender. The defender was buried at the Sokolivske cemetery in the city of Khmilnyk. Ruslan is survived by his parents and sister.
