Ruslan O. Taranchenko

Taranchenko Ruslan Oleksandrovych was born on February 27, 1990, in the village of Nedryhayliv, Sumy region. After finishing general education school, he studied at the Sevastopol Naval Academy, from which he graduated with honors. Later, he served on the ship "Donbas," and in 2014, on the minesweeper "Cherkasy" of the Ukrainian Black Sea Fleet. After that, he served in the city of Ochakiv in Mykolaiv region. On the eve of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, starting from February 23, 2022, Captain Third Rank Ruslan Taranchenko was performing the duties of the commander of the Ochakiv garrison. He organized the withdrawal of all ships to sea, while he and 16 sailors remained at the pier to carry out combat missions. On February 24, 2022, at 6:50 AM, communication with him was lost… Ruslan Taranchenko was killed while performing a combat mission due to a Russian missile strike in the city of Ochakiv. Ruslan Taranchenko was buried on March 18, 2022, in the village of Nedryhayliv, at the cemetery near the Mitrofanivka Church.
