Ruslan V. Pohonchuk

Born on June 27, 1976, in the city of Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi region. Graduated from 8th grade of secondary school No. 8 in Starokostiantyniv, then from the Kalush Food College (city of Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region). In 1994-1996, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Worked as a security guard. In 2015, he was mobilized by the Starokostiantyniv-Kraslivka Combined District Military Commissariat of Khmelnytskyi region into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as the commander of a combat vehicle of the 1st platoon of the anti-tank guided missile battery of the 30th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0409, city of Novograd-Volynskyi, Zhytomyr region). Since 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On January 1, 2016, Junior Sergeant Pohonychuk died of cardiac arrest while on duty in the area of the village of Rozdolivka in the Artemivsk (now Bakhmut) district of Donetsk region. On January 4, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Reshnivka, Starokostiantyniv district, Khmelnytskyi region. Honorary citizen of the Starokostiantyniv district, Khmelnytskyi region (2016 - posthumously). On April 19, 2016, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the city of Starokostiantyniv on the building of secondary school No. 8 (16 Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi Street), where Ruslan Pohonychuk studied.
