- Garkusha Ruslan Yevhenovych was born on July 16, 1996, in the village of Panasivka, Romenskyi District, Sumy Oblast. In 2015, he graduated from the Higher Vocational School No. 17. Chief Sergeant Ruslan Garkusha dedicated over 5 years to serving the Ukrainian people and fulfilling his military duty. By his personal example, he ensured a high level of combat readiness organization for the inspectorate unit of the border service "Marinka" of the 11th Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The serviceman, together with his comrades from the "Marinka" border service unit, bravely and heroically conducted defensive battles at designated positions despite enemy shelling of the border positions. On March 21, 2022, Ruslan Garkusha participated in street battles with the enemy in the city of Marinka (on Prokofiev Street). The serviceman provided fire cover for the border unit with small arms, selflessly holding back the enemy's advance, which utilized artillery and tanks. Finding himself at the epicenter of fierce combat, Ruslan died a hero's death. For his personal courage, heroism, indomitable spirit, and active participation in the struggle for independence and the territorial integrity of his homeland, Chief Sergeant Garkusha Ruslan Yevhenovych was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" of the third degree.Memory Book of the MIA System
