Ruslan Yu. Serhiienko

46-year-old sergeant Ruslan Serhiyenko was killed on May 27, 2022, while performing a reconnaissance task near the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. The group of defenders came under enemy fire from "Grads" in the area of the village of Pokrovskoye. Ruslan was born in the city of Baturyn, Chernihiv region. He stuwas killed at the Baturyn General Education School of I-III degrees. After school, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a fixed-term service. When he was demobilized, he returned to his hometown. He worked in the construction industry. He was interested in history, loved nature. In March 2015, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended the eastern borders of our state, received injuries. Later, he returned to civilian life and work. On the first day of the full-scale war, on February 24, 2022, Ruslan again joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As part of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky, he took part in the defense of the Kyiv region. In May, their unit went to Donbass. "He was one of those people who appear - and everything lights up around," - said the friend of the deceased Marina. Ruslan was buried in his native Baturyn in Chernihiv region. The defender left behind his son Matviy.
