Semen V. Povar (Kulinar)

The main anti-aircraft gunner Semen Povar (call sign Kulinár) was killed on September 4, 2022, during an artillery bombardment in the area of the village of Pavlivka, Donetsk region. In August, the defender turned 38 years old. Semen was born in the city of Căușeni (Moldova). He lived in the city of Boyarka, Kyiv region. He graduated from school in the village of Lukasheve, Zaporizhia region. He obtained the profession of a carpenter-woodworker at the Zaporizhia Vocational School No. 2. He loved working with wood and making wooden furniture. He built the house with his own hands, decorated everything himself. He also loved to cook. In 2016–2018, Semen participated in the ATO / JFO. Later, he returned to civilian life. After the start of the full-scale invasion, Semen defended Ukraine as part of the anti-aircraft artillery division of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. "I know that he could not have done otherwise: to hide or not to go. Even from the ATO, it became clear that this was his war. He always said that we must not pass on this war to our children, so we have to end it with a victory!" - his wife Svitlana noted. The defender was buried on the Alley of Heroes in the city of Boyarka. Semen is survived by his mother, sister, two brothers, wife and daughter.
